SuperPETase gene
The purpose of the superPETase gene is to degrade PET plastic in the ocean through cyanobacteria. It is composed of a TorA sequence, superPETase gene, a mutation on the gene and a myc tag. The main purpose of the TorA sequence export the protein it is linked to past the plasma membrane, to the periplasmic space. This is a twin-arginine signal sequence that has been shown to function in cyanobacteria. Both the PETase gene and TorA gene were obtained from a research paper.
